Barracks Main Gate Entrance

The Current Main Gate looks very official, which leads me to believe that maybe the old Charlie Battery land is still owned by the Government. Anyway, there must be a reason why they want to keep vehicles and people out of the Area.

Down Past The Main Gate Turning Left

The left hand turn down the hill past the guard shack onto Battery Road that runs the whole length of the barracks area, from the reservior to the motor pool. At least it used to. This image was taken a bit closer to the main road then the barracks image of Ken Nendick's, which was taken a little behind the reservoir gate. Seems as though they haven't mowed the lawn lately.

Service Road To Mess Hall Back Door/Physical Plant

Now I am guessing here, but the image was labeled about half way down the road, so this is probably that short little service road between the back of the mess hall and the physical plant.

The other possibility is that it's the front entrance to the barracks. Any other ideas are always welcome.

And by the obvious signs, it appears that the “Official” entrance gate does not seem to be accomplishing its assigned task. And most recent too, at least as the newly dampened ground tells the story.

Hmmm... very suspicious...!

Motor Pool Drive Over Repair Pit

The next two photos are where the Motor Pool building once stood. Inside the large shop door was this where the drive over repair/maintenance pit is. This is Jerry Winningham's territory and he should be able to verify this information.

The IFC Area Looking From The East

I am amazed how well preserved the IFC Area is. This land must still be owned by the government.

This series of IFC images has helped me pin point the area that couldn't be done on the Google maps. I can now correct the Charlie Battery Image Maps pdf that documents the location by capturing images I made using Google Earth. Please “Click Here” to view that document.

The road to the left that turns to the right at the top of the rise goes to the Schloß Stocksberg. Also, the person on the road in the left side of the photo, and the farm tractor on the right, really helps give a distance and perspective scale to the image.

The IFC Area Looking From The West

So this image is from the west, so it's looking east. The barracks are to the left and gap to the far left of the image is looking down towards the launching area.

And as usual the land of perpetual clouds. I remember noticing how it used to clear up a night blazing stars, and like clockwork begin to cloud up as the day began. I could never figure that one out.

The Schloß Stocksberg From The IFC Area

I love this the visual compression in this image. I love the way the road zigzags following farm plots lines in a tight perspective. The different agricultural plots in various stages of growth, immaculately laid out, managed, and vibrant and looking healthy.

The barracks is behind us and the launching area to the left. This area is also fenced off, or at least it's definitely not part of the agricultural scene. It must also be owned by government.

From the blades of grass in the foreground, the schloss and forest in the mid-ground, to the faint rolling landscape in the background, and as always that big sky full of clouds, the air is clear and the scene is beautiful and charming.

The Main Gate To The Launching Area

From ground level this area is more difficult to make out. It seems as though the launching area has been totally surrounded with berms. I know that there were berms between Alpha and Bravo Sections and the Missile Maintenance, the LCT, and generator maintenance. However, it seems as thought the existing berms have been added to and expanded.

Also, the existing fence is of much more heaving duty materials, than the barbed wire fence of our time.

I wonder if the central launching area has been walled off because it is hazardous waste area? Now that is pure speculation on my part, with no substantiation or accusation, so do not quote me in any way.
