Summer Fest - 1966
During the summer Tom Hodges would take a generator to a Fest every weekend to provide power.
“It was great duty...!”
Left to right: Tom Hodges, Diana Twaddle and her husband Sgt. Hanford Twaddle, and finally, ?????. Diana Twaddle is a local girl from ...? and they now reside in South Dakota.
Twaddle and I were also good friends, and used to drive convoy to Baumholder, along with various escapades thrown in for good measure. He was at Charlie Battery several different times throughout the 60's.
Everyone looks pretty buzzed and glassy eyed, however, I think the burning question here really is... Were those Porkpie hats standard issue, or what...?

Tipping A Few With The Locals
While stationed at Gerszewski Barracks these boys, on the left front to back is Ray Andreozzi and Olney (Fred) Van Zandt, and to the right front to back is Jerry Merrick and Wayne Harris. Jerry asked someone to take a picture with his camera. The scene is in a hall in Karlsruhe and maybe around Fasching (Carnival) time, just be fore Lent.
You remember, da da, da da, da da, da da, Ein, Zwie, Sofa... with locked arms and rocking left to right, with a serious Moninger Buzz...! Hic...!
You can just make out a band on the stage, and it's interesting, practically everyone one can see is “Watching the Birdie”, even the waitress down on the left.

Good Friends Don Crowl and Ken Nendick At The Schloss Frankenstein
This trip was a project of our travel agent Spec 4 Don Crowl, on the left in this picture. In checking his journal of 1960, Don found that we visited the Schloss Frankenstein on “Dienstag, 27 Dezember”. The next day he began initial clearing in Heilbronn to leave ole Charlie Battery for good.
The Schloss Frankenstein is up around Darmstadt, south of Frankfurt. Not exactly in our neighborhood, but just something we did that was more interesting than of drinking beer. Actually, I originally thought this picture was over at the Schloss Stocksberg until Ken Nendick reminded me that it was our trip north Darmstadt.
