Hello,

I was happy when I have seen the old pictures of Niederhofen and the other villages. Now I am 53 years old. I was born in Kleingartach and now I live in Niederhofen since a lot of years. When I was a young boy I visit the soldiers in the barracks with my friends. They gave us chewing gum, chocolate and coke. We liked it very much! Our friend from the soldiers was a black men, he was a doctor. He have to go to vietnam, but don't know his name. With my dad I often visit the Gasthaus Rose in Niederhofen and have played with the gaming machine.

I wish you all the best, have a great time.

Greetings from Germany,
Alwin Schwarzkopf

Greetings

I was assigned to C Battery 3rd 71st ADA when it was in Hardhiem, Germany, from March 1979-June 1983. I worked in Hopffingen at the IFC assigned to the UHF section. This was my first assignment out of 20 years in the Army, I met lots of good people, and have profound memories of this unit.

I was at C-3-71, Hardheim from Feb 73-Jun76 as the IFC Warrant Officer. Remember Gas shortage transportation restrictions and and 1 hour commute pass for weekend duty.
Made 4 trips to Crete for ASPs spending an extra week stranded there when Air transportation diverted during the Greek-Turkish incident.
Endured the 75-76 winter when the battery headquarters building was evacuated for MOUSF [modernization of US facilities] and operations were moved to tents on site with billeted troops transported daily from Peden barracks.

Appreciate this site.

My dad is CWO Orion Dennis Barrett. He was in Karlshrue and Heilbronn (where we lived) from Sept. 1957 to Sept. of 1960. He is now 88 years old & his health is failing.
He has been living in Nocona, Tx. for some time now. When we returned from Germany, he was stationed at the missle base in Denton, Texas (Dallas-Ft. Worth area) and then transfered back to Ft. Bliss until he retired. Would love to hear from people he served with, it would cheer him up. He is beginning to suffer a little bit of dementia and we are gearing up for locating a nursing home in the very near future.
